This guy took video of the swim, bike, and run courses. They are pretty long, so look at them when you have a free hour or two (which is around 2-4am around these parts.) I started them but haven't watched them fully, will when we are closer to game day.
1. Looking at a easy ride for about 90 minutes (or 60 minute run) next Sunday for those who are interested. I will just put it out there from now on, and if someone is up for it great, if not, so be it.
2. For those interested, P2 is going OK, it is really hard right now, there are 3 sessions a week, and consist of either run- bike-run or bike, but with many hills, stairs, etc. I missed this week cause I was out of town, tried to replicate in DC, and it really hurt on Saturday.
3. Does anyone have Trail running shoes? Does anyone use them in the winter when it is icy/slippery? Thoughts on this controversial subject?
4. Nice job getting the trainer Slim, welcome to our world. If I were you, this is what I would do. First, go over to Mills Fleet and pick up a cow mat, it is a thick rubber surface that would protect your carpet (it is the poor mans weightlifting floor) Two, put it right downstairs in front of your flat screen, wait until the kids are to bed, and hit it for an hour (or in the morning).
5. Vikings, Gophers, Timberwolves, Gopher hockey. What do they all have in common? They should be looking for new coaches.
6. Ace should be hitting taper right about now, remember, taper means same intensity, just less miles. (Tip brought to you from Coach Speed Demon)
7. Cronz was telling me that he does some drills in the pool. Does anyone else have any drills they do? Gilbs, did you have a preference on the Swim Coach, are you interested?

1. Jack, I would be interested in a ride on Sunday, provided my hip gets better. I'm currently down for the count as I think I have a Burcitis in my hip (ask your wife - I talked to her today). I'm icing and 800mg of advil a couple of times a day, and we'll see what happens.
2. Do you go to all of the P2 sessions? Do most people?
4. Great suggestion. If I had a flatscreen, I would be in front of it with my trainer, although I think my trainer is what gave me this burcitis, so I'm currently out of love with my trainer.
7. I may be interested in the swim coach thing, but not sure yet. If you are all doing it, then maybe I will too.
1. I think we are going to Alexandria this weekend, but I will ride with you if plans change.
2. I still wish I had the budget to do P2.
3. I have never worn trail running shoes but I did a little trail running during the SoCal days. I loved it.
4. Man, you guys weren't kidding about that trainer being brutal. It's like time stops.
5. How about this...Childress had some success with the Badger staff and Brewster with the Broncos. How about they just trade jobs?
6. Good luck, Ace. Get after it.
7. I never do drills in the pool. The closest thing I do is an occasional couple laps with the kickboard. 95% of the time I get in the pool, freestyle 20 laps, and get out. I really need to start a more comprehensive plan and would love to learn some good drills.
1. Possible on Sunday ride - family has some things planned. Talk Saturday?
2. Back to 1. not sure I can hang with the incredible kauf - get after it.
3. Never worn trail running shoes but my bro has the winter ones - he doesn't wear them.
4. For some reason last year the trainer became my friend. I think maybe it is because I backed the tension WAY off. Which may also be why I sucked on the bike last year. This morning I went 20 minutes reading a newspaper, 15 minutes music, 15 minutes music + TV (on mute - let's not get crazy). I found that drills make it go by WAY faster (I will see if I can work another all caps way into this). I find the same thing with running and swimming, thus I am a huge fan. On the trainer I will do various drills - 3 min 2 min 1 min and back up at 90 RPM, 100 RPM, 110 RPM or 10 minutes on a monster gear at 60-70 RPM. Right now all I am doing is spinning at 85-95 RPM in the low gear, HR <150.
5. What about the Irish?
6. Last I heard he was sick.
7. See 4. I do drills because I can't stand just swimming back and forth. Right now I am working on balance so I go no arms and rotate from side to side. Then I go one arm out the whole way down, then the other. On the back 25's I do freestyle and can really feel the effect of the drills (that idea they always talk about - your spine is on a swivel). My coach used to have me do fists, and when it is closer to game time I do repeats. I also have done the catch-up drill - you don't drop the arm for the pull til your hands touch - many do this with a kickboard (put one hand on, don't pull til the other hand is up there). I have been working Teresa's paddles recently too but am afraid of getting hurt.
Speaking of getting hurt - BMG what the hell? It is October!
Yeah, I can't explain it. Just woke up with it one day. I took pretty much this whole week off. I did a core strength workout yesterday, but that was it. No bike, no run, no swim. I haven't been off for more than 2 days in almost 2 months, so maybe it is my body's way of telling me to slow down? Not sure exactly.
