So, I'll attempt to fill you all in here, but I've been taking Vicodin and Percoset nonstop for the last 24 hours, so as they say: I was dreamin when I wrote this, forgive me if I go astray.....
Was hanging out in Garrison, MN this weekend, and as I was walking up to the bar to get another drink, and some dude walked up to me and sucker punched me in the face. My feet stayed where they were, and as I fell backwards, my right leg snapped. After looking at the x-rays today, the DR's think I have breaks in at least 4 different places, and looks like I've torn ligaments in my ankle as well. The damage is mostly between my shin and upper ankle. No knee damage that I know of yet.
Did 2 ER visits one in Onamia, and the other at Southdale. Met with staff at Tria Orthopedic Center and met Dr. Fetzer, who will be the one doing my surgery to repair all the damage. Seems like a great guy. Looks at this point like they'll be adding at least one plate, some pins, and a few screws to fix it all up. Dr. says after the surgery I'll most likely be discharged, but may stay the night at Methodist.
After surgery, I will be on crutches - absolutely no weight bearing on my leg for a minimum of 8 weeks, and then I'll need to have another small surgery to take out the screws. After that, another cast for a while, and then a boot. So probably all said and done, probably 3-4 months of being laid up.
Not really sure whate else to say, other than the fact that I'm just incredibly bummed out about the whole thing. Dumb, dumb dumb.
Tracy is the bomb. She is totally taking care of me. My mom has been here as well since this morning. I really miss my kids though. They have been in Redwood Falls since last Thursday, and I probably won't see them until after surgery.
I asked Dr. Fetzer about IMWI, and he said that it is not out of the question, but most likely will not work out for this year, since I'll be starting with a completely atrophied leg in probably may or June.
Anyway....

Bryan,
So sorry to hear about this -- ouch!! Sounds like you've got some strong pain meds... and that's good:)
Hang in there, let us know what the Cronins can do. Remember that you are a fighter -- who knows where you will be in a few months! Get well. Heal well.
Have they set a surgery date yet?

thanks Yo. I really appreciate the offer! Surgery tomorrow morning at 8:30am at Methodist.
Let us know how things are going this morning? Hope surgery is/went well!
I am still in shock over this whole story. I'm so mad at that guy. How senseless, what an idiot.
Dude. Good luck with everything. The Nordbergs are here for ya with whatever you need. And you're right, Tracy is a rock star - you guys are lucky to have each other.
We'll see you very soon. Personally, I want to see you when you're heavily medicated. I bet you'll be funny.
Take care, brother.

Ha! Feel free to come on by whenever. I'll be here. Although don't feel bad if i don't get up to answer the door! It is open. I've got pills though, so I'm a good time.
Gilbs,
The Kaufman's send our sympathies as well, I apologize for not sending them sooner, but we have been in VA since Sunday.
It is a shocking story. And I am sure we speak for everyone in the crew, this just sucks in every way imaginable.
Hope the surgery goes well. All I will say is this. I was on Vicodin once in my life for 3 days. At the end of it, I was trying to figure out a way to get my hands on more. So be careful. You will need it for the time being, but realize you will go through withdrawal when you go off it.
If you need anything from Kate or I, let us know.
