Cronz was the only one through-the rest of us had roughly a 5 minute wait. There were some triathlon tools who were concerned with how this would affect their times-annoyed me.
Loved the swim-don't know if the scenery could be matched by another race with trees, sun, fog, etc.
Loved the bike-one killer hill, otherwise fast and of course great scenery. Probably could have been faster but made a conscious effort to take it all in.
Got obliterated on the run-95+ heat, cramping, GI issues, and some tough, tough hills.
When I came up on the scene I basically thought I had caught the peloton. Just a whole herd of bikers riding shoulder to shoulder. They were all stopped in the front but I didn't know that yet. As we muddled through I could see an ambulance on the left side of the road, several firefighters with chainsaws cutting the tree up to clear the road and a firetruck up on the right. So, we all just got through the best we could. It felt a lot like leaving a Twins game, only carrying a bike on your shoulder. Crazy stuff.
